David Hernandez is a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health: Epidemiology with a minor in General Biology. As an El Centro, CA native his motivation to pursue a career in Public Health–and potentially in the medical field– stems from exploring the barriers and disparities that exist amongst the Latinx community.
Aside from assisting with the 2VIDA! project, David is actively involved around the UC San Diego community as an Associated Students Off-Campus Senator, Director of Public Relations for the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Epsilon Mu, Inc., along with serving Muir College as a Student Engagement Intern and Diversity Advocate on their council.
David’s professional and personal experiences have allowed him to explore a wide range of networks that he hopes to continue expanding as he finds new opportunities to collaborate, educate and deliver transparency to work towards building a bridge of trust between underrepresented populations and health professionals.
In the near future, David hopes to apply for a Master’s in Public Health.
