Community members from across San Diego were able to join for presentations by Dr. Jamila K. Stockman of the iStrive Research Lab and SDCFAR, Dr. Susan Little of the SDCAR, San Diego HIV Planning Group Chair Joe Burke, and others, as well as conversations on advancing HIV care and research in the San Diego community.  Faith Community HIV Awareness Day

The Southeast San Diego Local Faith Community and the UC San Diego Center for AIDS Research Disparities Core cordially invites you to attend San Diego’s first Faith Community HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, which is taking place this weekend in conjunction with the National Faith HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
While prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS has improved in the United States, there are still many health disparities, particularly affecting our minority communities. The Jacobs Center has been a beacon of hope in Southeast San Diego, where many members of the community are in the highest at-risk group for HIV. The California HIV/AIDS Research program (CHRP), along with the University of California San Diego, and other organizations have been seeking ways to positively impact these at-risk populations. This awareness event will be led by several denominations of our local faith community and we invite the entire community.
The San Diego Faith Community HIV/AIDS Awareness Day will feature local community faith leaders, health organizations, HIV testing conducted by the UC San Diego AVRC Early Test Program, and periodic public service announcements (PSA’s) regarding HIV/AIDS, health statistics, facts, and health tips. Additionally, there will be a DJ, local gospel groups, musical talent, and food vendors!
We look forward to having you and your family join us for this community event.
