Erica Chan is an undergraduate Research Assistant in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health. She is a second-year undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of California, San Diego. She is currently working with Dr. Tsuyuki on a research project regarding gender norms and syndemic alcohol use, gender-based violence, and HIV risk among women.
Erica’s work with Dr. Tsuyuki reflects her commitment and interest in social justice and health. During her high school career, Erica developed a passion for public health through her internships where she advocated for young women’s health and gender equity. She hopes to continue health advocacy through a career in medicine with a special focus in working with underserved populations, such as immigrant communities.
