Andrea N. Cimino, PhD, MSW is a Faculty Research Associate at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Her research focuses on gender-based violence with a specific focus on the street prostitution exiting process. Dr. Cimino’s contribution to the field includes a clinical assessment that measures readiness to exit prostitution for adult women. She is co-PI of a NIJ-funded study examining barriers and readiness to exit commercial sex work with domestic minor sex trafficking victims involved in the Clark County Juvenile Justice Department (2015-VF-GX-0064). As a former Postdoctoral Fellow in Interdisciplinary Violence Research at Johns Hopkins (T32-HDO64428), Dr. Cimino has advanced training in the prevention and identification of violence and its physical and mental health effects. She is co-I of a study examining the impact of environmental and physiological factors on forced sex and HIV risk among African American women living in Baltimore, Maryland (R01-HD077891). Dr. Cimino holds a PhD in Social Work and MSW from Arizona State University. Prior to her affiliation with Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Cimino was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Social Work where she taught macro practice and research courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
