Casey Cyr is a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She earned her BS in Physiology and Neurobiology from the University of Connecticut, where her studies focused on synaptic transmission and neurological pathology. Casey was a Research Assistant in the Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital, before acting as Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator at UConn Health Center in Farmington, CT in the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Casey then worked as an Andrologist in the clinical lab at the Center for Advanced Reproductive Services in Farmington, CT until 2017, when she moved to San Diego, CA.
Casey began working as a Research Project Coordinator at UCSD in August 2017, and has worked for multiple faculty Principal Investigators in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health prior to joining the iSTRIVE lab as the Clinical Research Coordinator for Women SHINE in February 2023. Her previous work at UCSD includes coordination of multiple large-scale systematic reviews which generated data used to estimate the impact of HIV prevention portfolios among people who inject drugs (PWID) for 108 countries worldwide (every country with available HIV prevalence data among PWID), as a part of a multi-institution R01 grant funded through NIAID. Casey is most passionate about protecting access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare and health education.
In her spare time, Casey enjoys reading, cooking, and attending concerts. She is a fan of fine cheeses, stand-up comedy, and the Boston Red Sox
