Janine Lopez is a Field Research Associate in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health. Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health at the University of California, San Diego in 2016.
Janine’s work with the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health began in her third year at UC San Diego as a qualitative transcriptionist for the Change for Women Project. As an undergraduate, Janine cultivated her passion to help others by focusing her advocacy work on addressing healthcare and socioeconomic disparities among marginalized populations. She has worked alongside healthcare providers on medical mission trips delivering assistance to communities who lack access to healthcare facilities. Simultaneously, Janine worked as a medical scribe at a local Emergency Department with the hopes of further understanding the prevalence of inequality in the healthcare system.
