Sherri Lewis is a Co-Facilitator with the Women SHINE Study in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health, Department of Medicine at UC San Diego. A former Top 40 recording artist (1981), Sherri continues to perform for fundraisers and community events, using her platform to inspire and educate others.

Living with HIV since 1987, Sherri has dedicated her life to advocacy, education, and empowerment within the HIV community. In 1992, she was recruited by Harvard University and trained through the Harvard AIDS Institute to counsel individuals with substance use disorders, facilitate support groups, and provide HIV testing and results counseling. In 2005, she created the UCLA AIDS Ambassadors training program, expanding peer education and awareness across Los Angeles.

In addition to her clinical and advocacy work, Sherri is a writer for POZ Magazine, Arts & Understanding: America’s AIDS Magazine, and TheBody.com, where she shares stories of resilience, healing, and hope. She remains passionate about supporting individuals affected by HIV and advancing public understanding through both her voice and her works.
