Responsive to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jamila K. Stockman and Ms. Katherine Anderson of the UCSD iSTRIVE Research Lab launched The Capturing Women’s Experiences in Outbreak and Pandemic Environments (COPE) Study in May of 2020. Funded by the UCSD Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, The COPE study aims to assess the unique impact of SARS-CoV-2 on women, including exposure to violence, adverse mental health, and loss of health care access. To date, The COPE Study has enrolled approximately 500 diverse women from across the United States to better understand what women need and how to support them during the ongoing pandemic, through post-pandemic recovery, and in future outbreak environments.
